Chilli Sin Carne

In this recipe, the star of the show is chipotle, which is smoked red jalapeños. You can replace it with smoked paprika if you don’t like it spicy!


You’ll need:

  • 1 large onion finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic finely chopped

  • 1 tin black beans drained

  • 1-3 tsp of chipotle flakes or chipotle paste

On high heat, fry the onions and garlic until they are golden brown. Then add the chipotle and black beans while mixing the ingredients. After a few minutes slightly mash the black beans with a potato masher or a fork.

Then you’ll need…

  • 1 tin kidney beans

  • 1 tin of tomatoes

  • 2 tbsp vinegar (I used Chinese black vinegar)

  • 2 tbsp red wine (optional)

  • 2 tsp sugar

  • 2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce

Add the remaining ingredients and simmer until the sauce becomes thick and gloopy. Below are some serving options.
